This is the scene that lay before me as I went on my very first antelope hunt in the Gila National Forest of west-central New Mexico.
What a time we had. And it kicked off a 6 year search that what would end up with me cutting paths with one of the largest goats I've ever seen.
The majesty of the land, the chases and experiences I've had have been second to none, etched in my memory forever...
I've been on a total of 4 goat hunts in this beautiful state, all during the "disabled only" season. I've seen countless nice bucks and about 10 that were sensational, but none of them can compare to the big boy I caught up to in August of '05.
