Hunt #1 - The Buckmasters American Deer Foundation is pleased to announce the formation of a new chapter serving Western Ohio. The BADF Western Ohio Chapter, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization has planned several activities for the upcoming year, and we'd appreciate your participation and support. Through the many established Buckmasters programs and the creative development of our Board and Membership, the Western Ohio Chapter will provide a positive environment focusing on community involvement, conservation partnerships, and passing on the traditions and values of our wildlife heritage. You can read about our chapter programs and events at www.ohiobuckmasters.org. Our inaugural banquet is scheduled for February 2011, and in the interim we are offering raffles, social events, and other fundraisers to help meet our Fall 2010 program objectives.

Immediately, we are holding our HUGE HUNTING GIVEAWAY. This is a 12-month long raffle where the prize of the month will include a bow, crossbow or gun with the purchase of a single ticket. Participants have 12 chances to win from July 2010 thru June 2011 for one $25 ticket, and there are also multiple ticket packages. We're also holding a Pig Roast Family Social with food and assorted activities in August, followed by a September Texas Hold'Em Event.

Funds from these activities will help us prepare for three scheduled Special Needs Deer Hunts: an October Archery Hunt, a November Youth Gun Hunt, and a January Muzzleloader Hunt. Details on the application and selection process are available on the web site. Additionally, we've partnered with Farmers & Hunters Feeding the Hungry (www.fhfh.org) for our hunger relief program, along with providing adaptive equipment grants for disabled hunters and our TAGS Program that rewards members for participating in the FHFH program. We are also an affiliate sales representative for BassPro Shops, and when you make purchases from BassPro thru our web site we receive a 5% return from BassPro for internet sales. We encourage you to utilize this special program to make transparent donations to the chapter, and we'll be sending information soon about the Kroger Community Rewards Program.

Each event or activity organized by BADF Western Ohio is designed to provide a rewarding experience for our participants and donors, and we need your help to make each one a success. We are looking for interested volunteers to help organize these activities, so please contact us if you'd like to become a part of our chapter. You can register with the chapter for our E-Newsletter and E-Mail Alerts to stay informed about upcoming events, and we ask that you take a few moments to do so when you visit the web site. Please share this information with your family and friends, and thank you for your kind consideration. We look forward to you joining us in making this chapter a success.

Hunt #2 - Registrations for PCBA's Ohio BuckHaven Deer Hunt. Current physically challenged PCBA members can submit their name into a random drawing every year. This drawing will award 15 lucky hunters the opportunity to hunt at BuckHaven, in Loudonville, Ohio for the 11th Annual PCBA-Ohio All-Expense Paid Physically Challenged Archery Deer Hunt. The drawn hunters will be able to hunt both whitetail deer and/or fall turkey. (You can purchase a fall turkey tag for $24.00 or an extra deer tag for $24.00).

We will also draw 6 alternate hunters in case some of the original hunters drawn can’t make it at the last minute. Previous years have provided these alternates the opportunity to attend the hunt. PCBA will cover the cost of the out-of-state Ohio license (for one deer only) and lodgings for the out-of-state hunters drawn. Ohio resident hunters drawn will need to provide their own Ohio license.

A hunter’s safety card will be needed for new hunters and youth hunters drawn. Unlike the previous year’s hunts, your license will be purchased for you online when you arrive in camp. You MUST have your Social Security card and drivers license with you. (Children drawn will need a hunter’s safety card and ID number).

Food will be covered for all attendees and their aids or spouse. The only cost incurred by the “Lucky Twelve” will be their transportation cost to and from Ohio and any additional tags for either a second or third deer or turkey tags. Knox County, where the hunt is held will allow 3 deer, one buck and two doe, with the proper additional tags.

The hunt is scheduled to be held in October of every year. Hunters will be required to arrive in Loudonville on Wednesday, and arrive at the lodge by 3 PM to site in your bows and get your licenses purchased. Last year’s hunt was a great success in that the hunters harvested 11 deer and one turkey. The deer hunting is exceptional and provides many possibilities for our hunters to take some record deer.

Hunters can use a compound bow or crossbow, which is legal in Ohio. If you use special equipment, such as locking device, we’ll need to know when you apply. Families are allowed to attend this hunt but we ask that no children under 15 years of age (unless they are one of the drawn “Lucky Twelve”) be in camp during the hunt hours of 5AM to 6 PM. They will be allowed to join their families in camp for the evening meals however. All children in camp will be the responsibility of their parents and not be permitted on any equipment.

Hunt #3 - National Wild Turkey Federation - Ohio Turkey Hunt Date:

Our chapter is providing all the meals (6), tags, and we have local guides that will be with the hunters the entire weekend to take them to their hunting spots and call the birds or whatever else. It is first come, first serve.

Right now we have 40 some guides committed and probably another 20 that have to see if they can get off of work. We are actually shooting for 100 (with other surrounding NWTF chapters helping). As of now, we have 13 disabled folks committed and everyday we have more inquires. They all have various disabilities and come from all over. We have a hunter profile that I can send you. Please email randb@hiwaay.net for more info.

We need every hunter to fill out an application form and send it back so we can best team hunters and guides. Please help us spread the word. We are getting a list of local hotels with our special rate ready. We are providing camping at the Noble County Fairgrounds (the headquarters for the entire event). We are all volunteers and we want to make this event a great experience for all hunters and volunteers. The Hunt HQs is on the Noble County Fairgrounds in Caldwell, Ohio. We are located in South Eastern Ohio and we are right off of I-77. (Very easy to find). We have a lot of nice birds here and we hope to see you and a friend attend. Thank You for Your Interest, Danny.

P.S. You must be able to obtain an Ohio hunting license. Out of state is $91. We are buying the tags ($20) and if we get enough money donated we will give you a $25 discount towards your license. For License questions please call 1-800-wildlife, that is the Ohio State Division of Wildlife, and they can help answer your questions. The only other cost to you would be your transportation here and lodging if you stay in a hotel.
